Telecommunications Engineering PhD from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. His R&D&I and technology transfer activities, as the Director of the group SABIEN (Technological Innovations for Health and Welfare) from ITACA, are focused on telemedicine and e-health. He is a professor at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where he has been teaching subjects related to ICT and health since 2001. He is a member of the Academic Committee of the Inter-university Master in Biomedical Engineering, where he also teaches. He has participated in more than 30 European and national R&D projects and 15 research agreements with companies in the field of telemedicine and e-health. He is author of 20 articles published in international journals and 10 published in national journals, and has given more than 120 presentations in international and national conferences. He is an expert from FENIN on Prospective Technological Studies on e-health. He has founded several companies in the sector of health and wellbeing. He is the coordinator of the research micro-cluster “Tecnologías innovadoras para la Salud y el Envejecimiento activo y saludable” (Innovative Technologies for Health and Active and Healthy Ageing)”. He is the editor of the book El ePaciente y las redes sociales (The e-patient and social networks), sponsored by Fundación Vodafone, and of several monographs on health and social networks, published by Diario Médico. He is the organiser of the 2014 IEEE International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics and of several other international conferences and workshops.
