Safia Elaaddam is a young social educator and the promoter of the “Voting is a right” initiative. This campaign was born out of frustration and injustice. People born in Spain and the children of immigrants put the focus on the institutional racism that they suffer. “In a democratic society, the right to vote is an indispensable tool for dialogue and participation and it must be part of any social inclusion process. “Besides, the right to vote is essential for foreigners to be visible as part of the community and to identify themselves with a societal and state project. Moreover, it is also a way of being positioned to revert institutional and social racism”.
