@ CIEsNO València

María Rosario is an activist, teacher and intercultural mediator. Since she arrived in València 17 years ago, she has been involved in social movements related to migrations. She has actively participated in the campaign to close down detention centres in Spain since it started: she will tell us about that 10-year old initiative.

Rosario is the founder of the Candombe intercultural association, created in 2009 by a group of people that had migrated from different countries, with different interests and needs, but all of them motivated to claim the rights of migrants.

As an activist, she has taken part in several Human Rights platforms. Moreover, she provides support to migrants in the association and at the Picassent penitentiary in issues related to immigration. She is currently the spokesperson of the Mesa d’Entitats de Solidaritat amb els Immigrants.
